Field Engineer

VIASANT is a nationwide environmental remediation firm serving major sectors inclusive of utility, chemical, oil & gas, mining & minerals, and manufacturing companies. Based strategically out of Pennsylvania, Illinois and Texas, VIASANT performs large-scale cleanup projects across the nation implementing various technologies and remediation techniques, such as in-situ stabilization/solidification, bioremediation, capping and containment, source removal, and wetlands mitigation, among others.

VIASANT is seeking hands-on Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Field Engineer candidates to support project execution through project close-out. This role will report to the project site as a function of the Quality Control Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interpretation of drawings and specifications.
Perform material and quantity take-offs and calculations.
Ensure activities progress and are executed in accordance with contract documents.
Assist in the generation and implementation of submittals, plans and work packages.
Plan, schedule, coordinate and record quality control, technical and permit items
Perform basic record keeping and manage correspondence, including daily inspections, logs, photographs and reports.
Perform basic field surveying and layout functions
Collection of samples and on-site analysis/testing of technical components
Inspect and monitor features of work.
Participate in site safety program, daily and weekly site meetings
Self-perform work, provide field support and supervise technical subcontractors

Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or construction management-related field AND 0-5 years of experience in related field – OR –
Associates degree in science, engineering or construction management-related field AND 3+ years of experience in related field
AND must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. and Adobe programs.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
Able to prioritize tasks and work independently, as well as part of a team.
Can adapt to changing conditions and work environment.
Able to access all areas of a construction site with differing terrain in all types of weather.
Ability to travel to project sites throughout the U.S. This position is 100% travel.

Optimal, but not required
Ability to perform project site surveying, i.e. Trimble SCS 985 or equivalent
Working knowledge and experience with Trimble Business Systems and/or CAD
Experience in sampling of soil, water and air media.
Experience implementing and working under Behavior Based Safety (BBS) systems
